The NATO expansion side of the story is a no-brainer (i.e., if I were the head of the Russian Federation I would not want to have NATO missile launchers just at my border), but I also subscribe to the notion that "all wars are bankers wars" and that the US Fed/Treasury need a war to continue printing $$$ and selling inflation to the world. TQ for your service. did you ever read Smedley Butler's 'War is a Racket' (1935)? highly recommended: "I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers.
